Are you interested in becoming part of the the Wellman Lake United Church Camp team? We are now hiring all positions for the 2014 camp season. Camps run weekdays from July 2 to August 15 with two weekend sessions. Employees are required to be present at the camp overnight during camp sessions.
 
Salary Range: $11 -$15/ per hour
 
Director
The director will be responsible for the oversight and programming of the Camp.

Qualifications:
  • Be 19 years of age or older;
  • Enjoy working with children;
  • Be responsible, cooperative, mature and have the ability to work as a team;
  • Willing to be an example for others.
 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Camp Programming which will include Bible Study;
  • Problem solving and facilitating appropriate measures/mediate conflict;
  • Uphold all Rules & Regulations of all areas used by the camp.
 
Counselor/Counselor in Training (CIT)
The Counselor is a paid position and will be responsible for assisting in the programming of the
Camp under the leadership of the Director. CIT is a non-paid position held for a week of the
camp season. The CIT will be responsible for assisting in the programming of the Camp under
the leadership of the Director and Counselors.
 
Qualifications:
  • Be 17 or older for counsellors and 15 or older for CIT's;
  • Enjoy working with children;
  • Be responsible, cooperative, mature and have the ability to work as a team;
  • Willing to be an example for others.
 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting in Camp Programming;
  • Ensuring the safety of Campers;
  • Problem solving and facilitating appropriate measures.
 
Lifeguard
Lifeguard will be responsible for the total waterfront activities as well as assisting in the
programming of the Camp whenever possible. The Lifeguard is the designated person to take
charge when the Director is absent.
 
Qualifications:
  • Be 17 years of age or older;
  • Enjoy working with children;
  • Be responsible, cooperative, mature and have the ability to work as a team;
  • Hold a Bronze Cross or higher lifesaving award;
  • Able to perform a correct rescue of a spinal-injured person;
  • Current Standard First Aid Certificate or St. Johns Ambulance certificate, with CPR;
  • Willing to be an example for others.
 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Maintaining and administering First Aid;
  • Assisting in preparing site and equipment.
 

Lead Cook

 This position involves meal planning and shopping for the summer camps. Contact for wage.

Qualifications:

• Must be minimum 18 years of age

• Possess an up to date Manitoba food handlers certification (FoodSafe)

• Experience in food service and preparation

• Posses a valid drivers licence and vehicle for transporting groceries.

 

Responsibilities will include:

Plan healthy meals and snacks for campers and staff

• Stock groceries and camp supplies as needed and within budget

• Supervise volunteer cooks helpers during the week

• Maintain and clean the kitchen

• Report to camp director
